In this General Plan, the <br />combined City area and Sphere of Influence are termed the "planning <br />area," as illustrated in Figure V-2. While properties within the Sphere of <br />Influence are under the jurisdiction of San Mateo County agencies, <br />these properties bear a critical relationship to Redwood City's planning <br />activities. Many of these areas already receive some sort of service <br />from Redwood City, and one day, some of these properties may become <br />part of the City proper. Planning for service extensions, integrated <br />infrastructure, and high design quality is timely and prudent. <br /> <br />General Plan Reference..
