PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE — Diane Howard, Vice Mayor <br /> 4. INVOCATION — Chaplain Dennis Logie, Redwood City Police Department <br /> 5. SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY <br /> A. Proclamation: Green Light Jerky Company - Matthew and Denise Klapper <br /> Mayor Foust, read from a recent column on the Contra Cost County Times and how Green <br /> Light Jerky was highlighted on the article. She proceeded to present the proclamation to <br /> Mr. and Mrs. Klapper. Mayor Foust announced that this product is available at Sigona's <br /> Market and other local stores and she suggested that the community try it. <br /> B. Proclamation: Fall Prevention Awareness Week, September 20-26, 2009 - <br /> Susan Feledy, member Fall Prevention Task Force <br /> Mayor Foust read parts of the proclamation. <br /> 6. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Council Member Hartnett pulled agenda item 6.1 G and Mayor Foust pulled agenda item <br /> 6.1H. <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Victoria Eversole requested speed bumps in her neighborhood due to a car accident <br /> involving one of her dogs. She shared that a driver ran over one of her dogs. Her intent <br /> was not to criticize the Police Department because she believes they are efficient but to <br /> alert the community that there are careless drivers. <br /> Nancy Arbuckle, representing the Sequoia Audubon Society, shared concerns with item <br /> 6.1 G and the issue of the consultant possibly not being as independent as it seems since <br /> the consultant worked for DMB. She opined if Council approves this consultant there <br /> might be the perception of conflict of interest. <br /> Brock Winstead, from State Senator Joe Simitian's Office, announced an upcoming town <br /> hall meeting at the City Council Chambers on September 24, 2009 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. <br /> and all are welcome. <br /> Art Bush, spoke about a recent article on a DUI checkpoint. He made comments about <br /> unofficial sanctuary cities. He opined that there is a certain leniency towards illegal <br /> residents, and he disagrees with that. <br /> Kaia Eakin opined that the City and the staff may be missing an opportunity to develop <br /> trust with the community (item 6.1 H).
