6.2A <br /> Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Ci Mana er <br /> October 12, 2009 <br /> SUBJECT <br /> Final Acceptance — Redwood City Recycied Water Project — Phase I -- Redwood <br /> Shores Customer Site Retrofits — Bid Package 2 <br /> REC�MMENDATION <br /> Accept, by motion, the Redwood City Recycled Water Project — Phase I — Redwood <br /> Shores Customer Site Retrofits — Bid Package 2 Project, and authorize the release of <br /> bonds and retention according to the city's procedures. <br /> BACKGR�UND <br /> �n May 19, 2008, the Council approved the contract documents and awarded the <br /> contract for the Redwood City Recycled Water Project — Phase I -- Redwood Shores <br /> Customer Site Retrofits— Bid Package 2 Project to the fowest responsibfe bidder, Trinet <br /> Construction, Inc. of San Francisco for their low bid of$372,095.00. <br /> This customer site retrofit project is the second retrofit project to extend the delivery of <br /> recycled water to new commercial irrigation and city roadway landscape customers in <br /> Redwood Shores. The work of this project converted existing irrigation systems that <br /> previously only accommodated potable water, to accommodate the use of recycled <br /> water. <br /> The Redwood City Recycled Water Project— Phase I — Redwood Shores Customer Site <br /> Retrofits — Bid Package 2 project has been successfully completed in accordance with <br /> the plans and specifications for a total cost of $412,527.80. Two {2} change orders <br /> were issued totaling $40,432.80, which is 9% more than the contract amount originally <br /> awarded. Change orders are attributable to the inclusion of an additional customer <br /> retrofit irrigation site and unforeseeable site conditions identified after excavation <br /> activities. The change order activity also extended the contract time. <br /> ALTERNATIVES <br /> Council may choose not to accept the project, or not to ac�thorize the release of bonds <br /> and retention which would be contrary to the terms of the agreement for this work. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT <br /> Funds have been appropriated from the Water Re�enue Bond proceeds. The Ciiy has <br /> issued a series of three Water Revenue Bonds to frnance Phase 1 of the Recycled <br /> Water Project. Currently available project funds, less un4.ttr.ibuted interest, total <br /> $fi,542,358.86 as of August 31, 2009. <br />
