7A <br /> ATTACHMEN`��e 4 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE C1TY OF REDWOOD CITY'S <br /> MEMBERSHIP IN THE BAY AREA CLIMATE C�LLABORATIVE AND <br /> AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO BEC4ME A SIGNATORY OF THE <br /> BAY AREA CLIMATE CHANGE COMPACT <br /> WHEREAS, the State of California has estabiished climate change goals set <br /> forth in AB 32, the Globai Warming Solutions Act; and <br /> V1IHEREAS, the City of Redwood City recognizes the need for immediate, <br /> coordinated and visionary action to reduce greenhouse gasses to meet the State <br /> mandated goals; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is establishing organizationa! and <br /> community greenhouse gas reduction goals and programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City understands the challenges of global <br /> warming are regional in nature and can be best addressed in partnership with other <br /> agencies and private entities; and <br /> VIIHEREAS, the Bay Area Climate Collaborative is a public-private partnership of <br /> municipalities, business graups, regional agencies, environmental organizations, <br /> educational institutions; and <br /> VIIHEREAS, the Bay Area Climate Collaborative is dedicated to achieving 10 <br /> clima#e change goals to effectively address the challenge of climate change and sustain <br /> our quality of life, as defined in the Bay Area Climate Change Compact, attached hereto <br /> as Exhibit A; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City desires to join the Bay Area Climate <br /> Collaborative in furtherance of these goals. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> HEREBY RES�LVES AS F4LLOWS: <br /> 1. All of the recitals set forth above are true and correct. <br /> 2. The City Council of the City of Redwood City (the "City") intends to join the Bay <br /> Area Climate Collaborative, the goals of which are set forth in the Bay Area <br /> Climate Collaborative Compact {the Compact"}, attached hereto as Exhibit A; <br /> and <br /> 3. The City authorizes the Mayor to become a signatory of the Bay Area Climate <br /> Collaborative Charter, attached here#o as Exhibit B; and <br /> ATTY/RESO/RES0.1951 <br /> 100509 <br /> 1 <br />
