California Energy Commission to Award Funds to Federal"Clean Cities" Funding Recipients � The California Energy Commission(CEC)announced on Sept.2 fhat it proposes to award funding to projects which received federal awards in response to the U.S. Department of Energy's ARRA Clean Cities, Round 1, Funding Opportunity Announcement. In accordance with a solicitation the CEC released on April 22("American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Cost Share:Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program"),the commission may only issue awards to projects that received an award from the federal govemment. Second Round of CDBG Grants Annou�ced Federai Housing and Urban Development(HUD)Secretary Shaun Donovan this week announced a second round of CDBG grants funded by ARRA. Nationwide,$620 million will be disbursed to over 500 communities,including a long Ilst of Galifornia cities.This completes the envlsioned total ARRA CDBG grant funding of$1 billion. HUD Awards$42.7 Mtllion to California Communities In Hometessness Prevention Grants U.S. HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan this week awarded$300 mil(ion in ARRA funding to nearly 1�0 communities across the nation, including$42.7 million to 31 agencies and local governments in California.The funding is intended to help rapidly re-house families who fall into homelessness, or prevent families from becoming homeless in the first place. ARRA provides$1.5 billion to fund HUD's new Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program(HPRP).This week's announcement brings fhe total awarded amount of HPRP funds to 900 percent,or$1.5 billion.The HPRP funding allocation to Califomia is the largest state allocation in the U.S. to date. In total,entlties in Califomia have received$189.1 million In HPRP funds,with some cities and counties receiving funding direc#ly from the federal govemment. 10
