Nationwide,$620 million will be <br /> disbursed to over 500 communities,including a long Ilst of Galifornia cities.This completes the <br /> envlsioned total ARRA CDBG grant funding of$1 billion. <br /> HUD Awards$42.7 Mtllion to California Communities In Hometessness Prevention Grants <br /> U.S. HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan this week awarded$300 mil(ion in ARRA funding to nearly <br /> 1�0 communities across the nation, including$42.7 million to 31 agencies and local governments <br /> in California.The funding is intended to help rapidly re-house families who fall into homelessness, <br /> or prevent families from becoming homeless in the first place. <br /> ARRA provides$1.5 billion to fund HUD's new Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing <br /> Program(HPRP).This week's announcement brings fhe total awarded amount of HPRP funds to <br /> 900 percent,or$1.5 billion.The HPRP funding allocation to Califomia is the largest state <br /> allocation in the U.S. to date.
