8A <br /> Page 20 <br /> A Landscape Task Force recommended changes to the original ordinance adopted in 1992.The <br /> result is the Water Conservation in�andscaping Act of 2006(AB 1881, Laird),which requires <br /> cities and counties, inciuding charter cities,to adapt landscape water conservatioti ordinances by <br /> Jan. 1,2010.Pursuant to this law, DWR prepared the Model Water Efficient Landscape <br /> Ordinance for use by these locai agencies should they choose. <br /> The Modei Ordinance addresses water budgets for landscapes,the preven�ion of excessive <br /> erosion and irrigation runoff, landscape and irrigadon des'rgn requirements,the use of recycled <br /> water where available, irrigation audits,and the scheduling of irrigation based on the local <br /> ciimate. <br /> DWR will host workshops throughout the state to help iocal agencies in adopting and <br /> implementing either the model ordinance,or a local ordinance that is at least as effective as the <br /> modei.The flnal schedule will be posted on DWR's Water Use and Efficiency Web site <br /> www water.ca.4ovlwateruseefficiencv/landscapeordinance/. <br /> Additional information can be found at www water.ca.�ov/wateruseetficiencv/landscaoeordinance. <br /> Further questions can be directed to Simon Eching,chief,Urban Water Use Effic�ency,at(916) <br /> 651-9667 or at sechindCc�water.ca.gov. <br /> 13 <br />
