<br /> <br /> <br />June 4, 2021 <br />For Immediate Release <br /> County of San Mateo Launches 2021 Multijurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update <br />Public Invited to Provide Input on Preparing for Natural Hazard Events <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY — The County of San Mateo, led by the Office of Emergency Services, is in the process of <br />developing the county’s updated Multijurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) to address natural <br />hazards such as earthquake, fire, flooding, extreme heat, and landslide. <br /> <br />The County seeks the public’s help in identifying solutions to the problems associated with natural hazards <br />and invites residents to participate in the hazard mitigation plan by: <br /> <br />1) filling out a survey on actions the County and its partner agencies can take to help community <br />members prepare for natural hazard events (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MHJSYDJ); <br /> <br />2) attending the next virtual public workshop on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, at 4 p.m. <br />(https://smcgov.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYtceqoqzwjGdxF5Dt4Kt1yufuxwVgp99TJ); and/or <br /> <br />3) reviewing the Draft Multijurisdictional Plan when it is released on Aug. 5, 2021. <br />(https://cmo.smcgov.org/multijurisdictional-local-hazard-mitigation-plan). <br /> <br />The County of San Mateo’s current Multijurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan expires in September <br />2021. An updated Multijurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan will serve as a meaningful template for a <br />more resilient and sustainable San Mateo County.
