Bay Area Climate Collaborative Compact. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Adopt, by resolution, the Bay Area Climate Collaborative Compact. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 14974 APPROVING THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY'S <br />MEMBERSHIP IN THE BAY AREA CLIMATE COLLABORATIVE AND AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR TO BECOME A SIGNATORY OF THE BAY AREA CLIMATE CHANGE <br />COMPACT <br /> <br />Ms. Beth Ross, Environmental Initiatives Manager, shared a presentation (on file). She <br />gave an update on the Redwood City Climate Action Plan and how Building Community <br />has become a bigger part of the overall project. She highlighted that October is National <br />Energy Efficiency month. <br /> <br />One Council Member inquired about the specificity of the dates in the plan which seem far <br />away but are right around the corner. Ms. Ross explained that some of the successes in <br />meeting these deadlines and goals are already visible by the creation of blue collar jobs <br />and ongoing community education. She acknowledged these are ambitious goals and <br />deadlines and emphasized the need to collaborate with the County of San Mateo. Mayor <br />Foust added details about metropolitan service areas and another Council Member added <br />that there are no penalties if the goals are not met. Staff confirmed that fact. Council <br />expressed thanks to staff for all the work and acknowledged that there is pressure to <br />comply and move forward. Mayor Foust said she had attended the signing of the Bay Area <br />Collaborative earlier this year in Redwood City. She was the only Mayor from San Mateo <br />County present. She also announced that on October 27,2009, at Notre Dame de Namur <br />University in Belmont, PG&E will host a free workshop on residential solar. <br /> <br />MIS HartrnetUlra to approve the resolution. Motion carried unanimously by roll call vote <br />with Howard and Bain absent. <br /> <br />B. Green Building Code Ordinance. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />1.
