6.18
Page 4
Kennedy/Jenks Consultants

Phong Du, PE
City of Redwood City
31 August 2009
Page 2

b. City Progress Meetings & Purple Team Meetings: Up to 32 hours of our project
manager's time is dedicated r to prepare for and attend meetings with City staff.
This time can be used for project review and status updates or to attend Purple
Team meetings.

c. QAlQC Program: Appropriate Kennedy/Jenks team members will review
documents for clarity and technical content prior to submittal to the City. Detailed
discipline-specific technical reviews of the design and technical memoranda are
included in tasks 2 and 3.

d. Contracting Assistance (EDDCO): Assist the City with developing scope and
budgeting for the City's Pump Controls contractor.

Task 2: Design Considerations & Planning Support Tasks

a. Hydraulic Model Update

The hydraulic model provides the City with a tool to predict and evaluate
pressures and velocities in the recycled water system and anticipate the system's
response to current and future demand loadings. Kennedy/Jenks will update the
current model and perform the following specific tasks.

. Complete Step 2 of model calibration. Final calibration of the model will be
preformed using DPS operational data, customer meter data, and pressure
information from data recorders installed at key locations in the existing
system. Data for the irrigation period from 3 June to 4 June, 2009, will be
utilized.
. Update model to include most recent demand information and calibration
results. Demand information will be taken from 2009 irrigation season data.
. Refine non-irrigation peaking factors as defined in the 21 July 2009 Peaking
Factor Technical Memo prepared by Kennedy/Jenks. Model will be set up to
allow the peaking factors to be discrete inputs into the model so that, in the
future, peaking factors can be adjusted with little effort.
. Using the updated model, set up and run the five (5) scenarios developed
with City input at the 23 April 2009 meeting with the City (see meeting
minutes for scenario details).
. Develop, set up, and run three (3) additional time-line scenarios using
projected 2010, 2015, and 2020 demands. The City's planning information
will be used to develop time-specific demands.
. Develop a graphical, timeline-based analysis tool, showing system
performance over time as additional predicted demands are added to the
system. This graphic will be constructed around the 2010, 2015, and 2020
milestone years.

htlpJfsfospJredwoodcityhw.startup.2007/project managemenlfdps capacity ~ements project/dps.capaclty .ilereaseJelIer.pt'OJlOS#. doc
