10 | PARKS, RECREATION & COMMUNITY SERVICES NEEDS ASSESSMENT <br />EXISTING CONDITIONS <br />Sports Fields <br />Redwood City has 9 sports fi elds that can <br />accommodate sports leagues and organized sports <br />play, including four located at Red Morton (Bechet- <br />Griffi n, Kiwanis, McGarvey and Mitchell), two <br />located at Hoover and one each at Hawes, Marlin <br />and Sandpiper. Ten Redwood City school fi elds <br />can also accommodate sports leagues, including <br />two located at Adelente, two at Kennedy and one <br />each at Henry Ford, John Gill, McKinley, Roosevelt, <br />Roy Cloud and Taft. The City does not schedule the <br />use of the fi elds at Sequoia High School but does <br />schedule use at the Fair Oaks and Garfi eld School <br />fi elds, which are outside of City limits. <br />Facilities <br />Redwood City has fi ve community centers that <br />provide space for programs, non-profi t organization <br />activities and meetings, private rentals and <br />company events. The Department’s <br />“recreation planning areas” include these <br />unincorporated areas for the purposes of planning <br />and providing services. However, for the purposes <br />of calculating each planning area’s level of service, <br />the populations in these unincorporated areas <br />are not included. The recreation planning areas <br />are listed in Figure 7. A map of the Department’s <br />recreational planning areas is available in Figure 8. <br />7.A. - Page 28 of 66 <br />140
