VISION AND GOALS <br />PARKS, RECREATION & COMMUNITY SERVICES NEEDS ASSESSMENT | 25 <br />The community outreach and engagement process <br />identifi ed key themes regarding the City’s amenities <br />and activities, which represent stakeholder opinions <br />on the City’s parks and recreation system, facilities <br />and programs. These themes include: <br />• Amenities and Activities <br />• Aff ordable Recreation <br />• Technology <br />• Teen Programs <br />• Sports Leagues and Sports Fields <br />• Community Gathering Spaces <br />• Neighborhood Parks <br />• Red Morton Park <br />• Trails and Activities <br />• Program Participation <br />• Play and Multigenerational Play <br />Amenities and Activities <br />Participants across all three research activities spoke <br />highly of the City’s parks and recreation facilities. <br />However, interview and focus group participants also <br />indicated a desire for new parks. Some participants <br />encouraged the City to consider converting parking <br />lots and parking spaces into parklets, although other <br />participants disagreed. Some interview and focus <br />group participants also identifi ed a need for facilities <br />for art programming and gallery space. <br />Interview and focus group participants further <br />identifi ed a need for additional amenities at existing <br />parks, including but not limited to more spaces for <br />bounce houses, secure bicycle parking in popular <br />locations and dog parks. <br />Aff ordable Recreation <br />Interview and focus group participants indicated <br />that more and more people are using the City’s parks <br />KEY THEMES <br />7.A. - Page 43 of 66 <br />155
