Demographic and Trends Study <br />Park Impact Fee Update <br />Since 2000 Redwood City has added over 7,000 residents (2010 vs 2016) <br />1,544 housing units were created from 2000-2016. <br />After 2016 the City had 818 units under construction, 783 approved and another 1,180 <br />units in proposals. <br />Median income increased from $66,700 to $90,500 <br />Poverty rate increased from 6% to 9.1%. <br />“The presence of very-low-, low-and moderate-income households indicate a need for low-cost recreation services, as <br />well as services that contribute to health and wellness…” <br />“City’s park and recreation services can assist in mitigating the impacts of rent burden by providing high-quality public <br />spaces and accessible park and recreation services, which can satisfy recreation needs while also contributing to <br />health and wellness.” <br />41
