<br />REPORT <br /> <br />6.18 <br />Page 1 <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />October 26, 2009 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Service Agreement with BKF & Associates for the <br />engineering design of the Redwood Shores Le~ee Maintenance Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve, by motion, Amendment No. 1 fo the professional service agreement with BKF <br />& Associates in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00 and authorize the City Manager to <br />increase the contract amount 'up to 10% of the amount if necessary. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The city is undertaking a levee improvement and certification project to raise the height <br />and certify the perimeter levees in the Redwood Shores area in response to the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency's levee certification mandate. <br /> <br />On March 17, 2009, the city entered into an agreement with BKF & Associates for <br />engineering design service for the Redwood Shores Levee Maintenance Project in an <br />amount not to exceed $59,682.00. <br /> <br />The design is complete and the plans are under permit review from various state and <br />federal agencies. Additional efforts are identified that may require some design <br />changes and design coordination with various permitting agencies. This contract <br />amendment will cover the funds needed for these additional tasks to complete the <br />project. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to approve the amendment to the agreement with BKF & <br />Associates and direct staff to modify the scope of work. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Project funds have been appropriated as General Improvement District 1-64 Facilities <br />Charge Construction Fund - Exterior Levee Certification program with an available <br />balance of $1,906,222.
