Result: Vetoed <br />Provides local agencies with more reasonable standards by which they may review alcoholic <br />beverage license applications. Specifically, this measure provides that any of the local officials <br />notified of alcoholic beverage license requests may request the time extension, and that the <br />additional review period would be extended from 20 days to 30 days. <br /> <br />58 486 (Simltian). Medical waste: sharps waste. <br />Request: Signature Result: Signed - Chapter 591 <br />Requires a pharmaceutical manufacturer that sells or distributes self-injected medications to <br />submit a plan to the California Integrated Waste Management Board that demonstrates how the <br />manufacturer supports the collection and safe disposal of home-generated sharps waste. This bill <br />will help reduce the risk of needle stick injuries to solid waste workers throughout California by <br />educating consumers about where they can properly dispose of used needles. <br /> <br />58 505 (Kehoe). Local planning: fire hazard Impacts. <br />Request: Signature Result: Vetoed <br />Requires cities to include mandatory safety elements changes that cover state responsibility <br />areas and very high fire hazard severity zones in the next revision of their housing element. This <br />measure will help cities better prepare for future fires and mitigate direct and indirect costs of <br />these fires. <br /> <br />SB 588 (Committee on Public Safety). Sex Offender Management Board. <br />Request: Signature Result: Signed - Chapter 191 <br />Repeals the sunset date on the California Sex Offender Management Board indefinitely. <br /> <br />Other Bills of Interest <br /> <br />SB 406 (DeSaulnier). Land use: environmental quality. <br />Result: Vetoed <br />This bill would have authorized metropolitan planning organizations to impose a two dollar per <br />vehicle fee on automobile registration to pay for vehicle related planning, to be split by the <br />regional and local governments. The League had a support if amended position. but the League's <br />proposed amendments were not included in the final version <br /> <br />SB 279 (Wolk). Local government: community facilities districts. <br />Result: Vetoed <br />This bill would have authorized local agencies to form a Mello Roos Financing District in which <br />individual property owners could join at their option In order to finance energy efficiency <br />improvements. <br /> <br />SBx3 18 (Ducheny). Corrections. <br />Result: Signed - Chapter 28, Statues of Third 2009-10 Extraordinary Session <br />This bill contains the prison reform provisions implementing the $1.2 billion cut to the California <br />Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) made in the budget. <br /> <br />'Water' Continued from Page 1... <br /> <br />A proclamation (htto:/Iaov.ca.aov/oress-release/13568) signed by the Governor called for the <br />special session to begin Monday, Oct. 12.
