REV: 05-15-23 RL <br />EXHIBIT “A” <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES AND FEE <br />1. Distance Learning for incarcerated learners <br />a. Number of participants/month: 40 <br />b. Cost: $4,500/month to cover: <br />i. Staff time <br />ii. Printing <br />iii. Postage for packets, participant stamped envelopes and staff essay- <br />feedback correspondence <br />iv. Curriculum development for curated monthly distance-learning <br />packets <br />c. On or before the 7th of each month, a distance-learning “Peace Packet” will <br />be mailed via USPS to Project READ literacy and conflict resolution learners <br />housed throughout the California Department of Corrections and <br />Rehabilitation. <br />d. Learners started receiving Project READ services while incarcerated in the <br />San Mateo County jails. This distance learning program allows for continued <br />reading engagement and support for these learners. <br />e. Each packet contains an opening letter with instructions for the packet, an <br />essay prompt, two readings, information to support successful reentry after <br />release, and mindfulness activities. <br />f. Participants submit their essay responses to a Hope Alive PO Box with the <br />stamped envelope included in each packet. <br />g. Hope Alive staff reads each essay and provides written feedback on the <br />participant’s original essay. Staff feedback is mailed back to the participant. <br />2. Family Literacy Care Packages: <br />a. Number of participants/month: 16-20 youth; 14 parents <br />b. Cost: $2,000/month to cover: <br />i. Staff time <br />ii. Family literacy materials <br />iii. Children’s and Young Adult books <br />iv. USPS postage for each package <br />c. On or before the 15th of each month, an individualized learning packet will <br />be sent to participating families. Packages include books and STEAM <br />activities that are reading and skill-level appropriate for each child. <br />3. Peacemaking Seminars: <br />a.
