ATTY/RESO.0046/PC RESO RECOMMENDING ZONING TEXT & MAP AMENDMENTS <br />REV: 06-02-23 JB <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />WHEREAS, to implement the Housing Element, the Planning Commission <br />recommends the following amendments to the Zoning Map (collectively, the “Zoning Map <br />Amendments”) to accomplish the following: <br />• Rezone Commercial Office zoning districts to Mixed-Use districts in order <br />to expand the area in Redwood City where residential development may occur. <br />• Expand the Mixed Use Neighborhood (MUN) zoning district along <br />Woodside Road in order to expand opportunities for residential development. <br />• Rezone existing mobile home parks to Mobile Home (MH) zoning to be <br />consistent with existing use and to preserve their use as housing. <br />• Rezone parcels throughout the City to address use inconsistencies <br />between the General Plan designation and underlying zoning district. <br />WHEREAS, the Zoning Code Amendments and Zoning Map Amendments were <br />analyzed in, are contemplated by, and are consistent with the program analyzed in the <br />EIR under CEQA Guidelines 15168(c) and do not require preparation of a supplemental <br />or subsequent EIR under CEQA Guidelines sections 15162 and 15163, and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Redwood City is empowered <br />to recommend amendments to the Zoning Code. Modifications to the various Articles <br />listed herein would further the purposes of the Zoning Code and Housing Element; and <br />WHEREAS, on May 10, 2023, the Planning Commission held a Study Session to <br />consider amendments to the Zoning Code and Zoning Map to implement the changes in <br />the Housing Element Update; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on May 26, 2023, a public notice of these amendments was circulated <br />in the San Mateo Daily Journal; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on June 6, 2023, the Planning Commission held a duly noticed public <br />hearing, in accordance with all applicable requirements of the Redwood City Zoning <br />Code, to consider the Zoning Code Amendments and Zoning Map Amendments. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Recitals. The recitals set forth above are true and correct, and are <br />hereby incorporated herein by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety. <br />Section 2. Findings. The Planning Commission hereby finds that the proposed <br />Zoning Code Amendments and Zoning Map Amendments are in the public interest and <br />consistent with the Redwood City General Plan, and increase the quality of the provisions <br />of the Zoning Code in guiding and regulating the future development, growth, and <br />evolution of Redwood City. <br />
