Caltrans’
project proposes installing Class IV protected bike lanes or Class II bike lanes on El Camino Real
from Brewster Avenue in the north to the city’s southern limit. In segments where a Class IV
facility is not feasible, Class II bike lanes will be installed. The project scope includes installation
of Class IV and Class II bikeways, accessibility improvements, pedestrian crossing improvements
at controlled and uncontrolled intersections such as Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons, protected
intersections, ramp connection reconfigurations at the El Camino Real and Woodside Road
interchange. The focus of the City’s Project will be to first identify, and then to design,
improvements that are either not included in Caltrans’ plans which the City wants to add to the
scope, or to build in advance of their project.
The scope of work will include the following key efforts:
Complete Parking Analysis and Develop Mitigation Strategies
Conduct Community and Business Outreach
Coordinate Planning and Design with Caltrans
Develop Design for Additional Improvements beyond Caltrans’ Project
Coordinate Bus Stop Design with SamTrans
Project Schedule:
Begin End
Pre-Project Planning N/A N/A
PE/Environmental 06/23 06/24
PS&E 06/23 06/24
Right-of-Way N/A N/A
Construction N/A N/A
ATTY/AGR.2023.150/San Mateo County Transportation Authority (On-Call Planning Services) (Page 13 of 19)
