DOE expects to make between eight and 20 <br />awards, ranging from $5-75 million. <br /> <br />The General Innovation Fund is for cities, counties and state-recognized Indian Tribes which <br />were not eligible to receive population-based formula grant allocations from DOE under the <br />EECBG. DOE <br />requests a voluntary letter of intent to apply by Nov. 19. <br /> <br />Environmental Enhancement and Mitigation Grant Program Announced <br />Applications due Monday, Nov. 16 <br /> <br />The Natural Resources Agency (NRA) this week announced that applications are being accepted <br />for the Environmental Enhancement and Mitigation Program's (EEMP) 2009-10 grants. Generally <br />limited to $350,000 per project, the program offers grants to local, state and federal governmental <br />agencies as well as nonprofit organizations for projects that mitigate environmental impacts <br />caused by new or modified state transportation facilities. <br /> <br />EEMP grants are given in three categories: <br /> <br />. Highway Landscape and Urban Forestry: Projects designed to offset vehicular emissions <br />of carbon dioxide through the planting of trees and other suitable plants. <br />. Resource Lands: Projects for the acquisiUon, restoration, or enhancement of watersheds, <br />wildlife habitat, wetlands, forests, or other significant natural areas within or near the right <br />of way for transportation improvements. <br />. Roadside Recreation: Projects for the acquisition and/or development of roadside <br />recreational opportunities. <br /> <br />Application Process <br /> <br />The deadline to submit applications to NRA for 2009-10 grants Monday, Nov. 16 at 4 p.m. <br />Recommended projects will be submitted by NRA to the California Transportation Commission for <br />funding consideration in early 2010.
