July 15,2024
City Council
c/o City Clerk
1017 Middlefield Road
Redwood City,CA 94063
Re:Support 112 Vera Avenue -Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County
Dear Members of the Redwood City City Council,
The Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County (HLC)works with our communities and their
leaders to produce and preserve quality affordable homes.
On behalf of HLC,I’m writing to express our support for the 112 Vera Avenue proposal by Integrated
Community Development;which has 178 new (affordable)homes just outside of downtown Redwood
City. We’d like to highlight that this proposal will include 75 very low,and 31 extremely low-income
homes;providing at least 106 of your most vulnerable community members the stability they need to
continue supporting your community, whether it be through their patronage of,or their employment by
your city’s small businesses. These are the community members that make Redwood City such an
attractive place to call home, but they struggle to find, afford, and hold on to suitable places to live.
While the lack of deeply affordable homes in your community is a complex issue, solutions do exist. The
homes by Integrated Community Development can be part of the answer, which is why we urge you to
support the 112 Vera Avenue proposal.
Sincerely,
Ken Chan
Senior Organizer
Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County
2905 S.El Camino Real,San Mateo,CA 94403 •(650)242-1764 •hlcsmc.org
