beyond capacity.
As it stands, the only place I can park is my driveway, which I am not
supposed to park in because it’s too short. I’ve gotten tickets parked in my
own driveway before. It is a hazard of living here. But I will tell you now,
the residents of the apartments surrounding me love their cars. They own
many, because there are often multiple families per unit. And in the case
of one of my own tenants, they own 3 cars, and there’s only 1 driver in the
family. This is not unusual for this neighborhood.
Unless you plan to 1) allow our neighborhood to immediately have parking
stickers/permits for residents, and 2) will actively police those stickers and
ticket and tow cars that do not belong here… I can not see any other way
that you can justify building 178 units with no parking. 3) Street cleaning
days/signs would also be welcomed due to the number of cars that never
move.
I have called about cars that have been sitting for weeks… to be told
they’re not abandoned because they moved last time they were tagged. I
have called about cars parked in front of the fire hydrant, to be asked
“How far in front of the hydrant is the car?: My response was: “Well,
there’s the car parked in the red zone, and then there’s the car directly in
front of and blocking the hydrant. You decide.”
In summary, please build low income housing. But please build
responsibly. Without assuming that each 2 bedroom unit will own at least
2 cars, and any other unit will also own at least 1 car… this is the height of
irresponsibility from the City Planners. We cannot go on this way.
Please do not build 112 Vera without parking. Please. PLEASE.

Sincerely,
Tina Kyriakis
Long time resident and property owner
Tina Kyriakis (650)207-3906
