Addendum Historical Resource Inventory and
Evaluation Report & Historical Impacts Analysis

AECOM
5

1. Project Description 1
South Main Mixed Use
The entire project site is located in the City of Redwood City at the periphery of the City’s
Downtown core, and is composed of five contiguous blocks (Parcels A through E) and one
separate block (Parcel F). Parcel F, which was added to the project as a non-contiguous site in
early 2019, is approximately 1,000 feet northwest of Parcels A through F at the southwestern
corner of El Camino Real and Jackson Avenue. Parcel F is made up of one existing parcel,
totaling 0.15 acre and occupying the northeastern corner parcel of the block at 1304 El Camino
Real. The site is bounded by El Camino Real to the east, Jackson Avenue to the north, and
existing development to the west and south. The site is occupied by a former auto repair
building that covers the majority of the site.
1304 El Camino Real
The applicant would also develop 39 residential units on the separate Parcel F site at
1304 El Camino Real. The project would construct a six-story, 66–foot-high building fronting
El Camino Real and Jackson Avenue, as shown in Figures 4 and 5. The main entrance to the
building would be along El Camino Real Boulevard. A main lobby and a community room would
be on the first floor. The parking lot would be accessible via Jackson Avenue, and the bike
storage area would be accessible via the podium parking lot. The proposed building would
occupy the entirety of the project lot.

Parcel F is currently surrounded by commercial and residential uses, typically 1-story buildings,
with a recently completed seven-story residential development directly across El Camino Real
at 1305 El Camino Real. The building at 1322 El Camino Real is approximately 60 feet
southeast of the existing and proposed new building at 1304 El Camino Real, and is physically
separated by a surface parking lot.
2. Background Research, Fieldwork & Methodology
2.1 Background Research
AECOM cultural resources staff examined standard sources of information that list and identify
known and potential historical resources to determine whether any buildings, structures, objects,
districts, or sites had been previously recorded or evaluated in or near the project site. AECOM
reviewed the National Register of Historic Properties (NRHP), CRHR, California Historical
Landmarks, and California Points of Historical Interest.2 AECOM also consulted the Redwood
City Historical Resources Inventory that is updated on an ongoing basis, the Redwood City
Historical Landmark list, and various years of the city Certified Local Government Annual
Reports.
The building at 1322 El Camino Real (The Record Man), just south of 1304 El Camino Real, is a
City-designated historical resource.
