The City’s Community Development and Transportation <br />Department shall require development proposals entailing significant earthworks or <br />deep foundations with the potential to penetrate sedimentary rock layers to <br />incorporate a study by a professional paleontologist to assess the potential for <br />damage of paleontological resources. Should the paleontologist determine that the <br />proposal has the potential to damage paleontological resources, the paleontologist <br />shall provide detailed provisions for the protection of these resources to the City’s <br />Community Development & Transportation Department. These provisions may <br />include the complete avoidance of the resource, in -place preservation, and/or <br />complete data recovery as discussed in Mitigation Measure CR-2.
