Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: August 26, 2024 <br />SUBJECT <br />Award 2023-2024 Watermain Replacement Project - Cambridge and Emerald Hills to Casey Construction, <br />Inc. with funding of up to $4,167,307 provided in the Water Capital Projects Fund <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the contract documents and award the <br />standard form contract for the 2023-2024 Watermain Replacement Project - Cambridge and Emerald Hills <br />to Casey Construction, Inc. of Emerald Hills for their responsive and responsible low total bid of $3,788,461 <br />from the Water Capital Projects Fund, waive certain minor bid irregularities as set forth in the staff report, <br />and authorize the City Manager or their designee to increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10% <br />of the amount awarded, for a total amount not to exceed $4,167,307. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />On October 24, 2011, the City Council accepted the Water System Master Plan Report and directed staff <br />to move forward with specific capital improvement projects and programs for future Council <br />consideration. The Water System Master Plan prioritized the system pipeline replacement into seven <br />priorities or programs to increase the reliability of the system and improve fire protection. Most Priority- <br />One Pipeline Replacement Projects are completed. Staff have completed a substantial percentage of <br />Priority-Two Pipeline Replacement Projects, which focus on the replacement of aging pipelines 4-inches <br />or less in diameter. Priority-Three Pipeline Replacement Projects include aging pipelines greater than 4- <br />inches in diameter. This project includes Priority-Two and Priority-Three segments. <br />6.F. - Page 1 of 4 <br />193
