Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: August 26, 2024 <br />SUBJECT <br />Agreement for Services with Midwest Tape LLC for audiovisual (AV) materials (compact discs (CDs)/digital <br />versatile discs (DVDs)/Books on CD) and processing, and electronic materials access (eBooks, <br />eAudiobooks, eComics and streaming movies, music, television) <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a three-year Agreement for Services with <br />Midwest Tape LLC for AV materials (CDs/DVDs/Books on CD) and processing, and electronic materials <br />access (eBooks, eAudiobooks, eComics and streaming movies, music, television) for a not-to-exceed <br />amount of $200,000 per year for a total contract amount of $600,000 from August 2024 to August 2027, <br />and authorize the City Manager to extend the agreement for two additional two-year terms in an amount <br />not to exceed $800,000, through July 2031, for a total contract amount not-to-exceed $1,400,000. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Equity <br />BACKGROUND <br />Redwood City Public Library purchases most new items for its collections from wholesale distributors who <br />maintain large inventories of titles from many publishers and producers. Obtaining media through these <br />suppliers offers many advantages over purchasing from individual publishers including: <br />Higher discounts off retail prices <br />Larger and more varied inventories <br />Efficiencies in placing orders and processing payments <br />Greater use of technologies needed to communicate with library databases and systems <br />6.O. - Page 1 of 18 <br />572
