Connection fees represent
one-time charges for water meters and installation. Facilities fees and capacity charges are one-
time fees at the time of connection and are intended to reimburse the Enterprise for costs
associated with capital infrastructure to expand capacity (the facilities fee) and costs associated
with increasing available water supply (the capacity charge). Beginning in Fiscal Year 2023-24,
the facilities fees and capacity charges presented below have been combined into a single one-
time “capacity fee” that varies by meter size.
Table 14
Revenues from Connection and Facilities Fees and Capacity Charges
FY 2018-19 FY 2019-20 FY 2020-21 FY 2021-22 FY 2022-23
Connection Fees $173,275 $178,718 $142,205 $163,217 $133,481
Facilities Fees (1)445,857 473,275 465,694 671,491 497,646
Capacity Charges (1) 910,128 510,812 647,917 752,778 873,575
Total $1,529,259 $1,162,805 $1,255,816 $1,587,487 $1,504,703
___________________________
Source: City of Redwood City Finance Department.
(1) Beginning in Fiscal Year 2023-24, these two amounts have been combined into a single “capacity fee.”
Insurance
Workers’ Compensation.
