Appointed by the City Council, BCCs are comprised of individuals who
represent a variety of backgrounds, values, and opinions. A high level of professionalism and civility is
expected of all BCC members throughout their tenure.
In 2012, the City Council adopted a Boards, Commissions and Committees Handbook (the Handbook)
which serves as a reference guide applicable to all BCC members. The Handbook provides an overview of
basic laws and procedures members can reference during their term and clarifies the roles and
responsibilities of BCC members in relation to the City Council, City staff, and members of the public.
During its adoption in 2012, the City Council also authorized the City Clerk to make subsequent changes
to the Handbook as necessary. The Handbook was last updated in April 2021.
9.B. - Page 1 of 53
157
