<br />59 <br /> <br />18.11 Bereavement Leave <br /> <br />For fifty-six (56) hour employees, in the event of a death in the immediate family <br />of an employee, the employee shall, upon request, be granted such time off with <br />pay as is necessary to make arrangements for the funeral and attend same, not <br />to exceed two (2) scheduled duty shifts. <br /> <br />For forty (40) hour employees, in the event of a death in the immediate family <br />of an employee of the City, that employee shall, upon request, be granted such <br />time off with pay as is necessary to make arrangements for and/or attend the <br />funeral not to exceed three (3) regularly scheduled working days or four (4) days <br />in the event the funeral is three hundred (300) or more miles from the City. <br /> <br />In addition to the above, an employee may take unpaid bereavement leave for <br />a total of five (5) regularly scheduled working days off (including paid <br />bereavement leave under this section); however, employees may use accrued <br />paid leave for the unpaid days. The five (5) days of bereavement leave may be <br />taken intermittently, but must be completed within three (3) months of the <br />family member’s date of death. <br /> <br />For the purposes of this provision, the immediate family shall be restricted to <br />parent, sibling, spouse, registered domestic partner, child, stepparent, step <br />sibling, step-child, parent-in-law, grandparent, and grandchild. An employee <br />may request funeral leave for the funeral of a close relation not listed herein, <br />subject to the approval of the Fire Chief or designee. At the request of the City, <br />the employee shall furnish a death certificate and proof of relationship. <br /> <br />18.12 Leave for Association Business <br /> <br />Any employee who shall hereafter be elected or officially appointed to a full - <br />time paid position in the Association, which position requires absence from the <br />City's service, shall be granted an unpaid leave of absence therefor, and upon <br />retirement from such position, shall be reinstated; provided, however, that such <br />leave of absence shall not extend beyond the term of this MOU, unless extended <br />by mutual consent. <br /> <br />All IAFF members will contribute two (2) hours of accumulated vacation leave <br />per year, beginning with first pay date in January, for use by their union <br />president, or designee, for Association business leave. <br /> <br />18.13 Absence Without Leave <br /> <br />Failure on the part of an employee to report for duty or notify the designated <br />management official prior to the employee's scheduled starting time as to a <br />6.A. - Page 70 of 99 <br />77
