6. Safety will be a problem. Starting with building the project itself as there is no way it can be built <br />without impacting and probably closing the sidewalk and parts of the street, most likely blocking <br />what are supposed to be new bike lanes. <br />a. Students from Woodside High, Kennedy and Henry Ford schools walk down that side of <br />the road on a regular basis. <br />7. After the project is built there is no accommodation for moving vans or U-hauls, delivery <br />vehicles, and the like. Even if they could use the garage most would not be able to turn around <br />in the proposed space. Where will they go? Woodside Road will have NO PARKING. <br /> <br />a. There is a planned cut out. It is called a loading zone on both old and new plans and <br />those I talked to indicated it would be used for deliveries and dropping off residents. At <br />the planning meeting when questioned the architects changed that, stating it would only <br />be for trash pickup. <br />b. As shown in the proposed loading zone drawing it infringes on the bike lane. This will be <br />worse than parked cars that tend to stay for hours at a time. Many of the accidents that <br />occur on Woodside Road have been because of cars not really being able to see what’s <br />coming when they pull into traffic from parallel parking spaces. <br />c. Any project on this site needs to have an ungated driveway for deliveries and to pick up <br />and drop off tenants. It should also have a least a few ungated short term parking <br />spaces for visitors. <br />Eden’s response to comments about tenants needing cars was if they don’t win the lottery for a space <br />they don’t have to live there. <br />I ask why this project did not remain at 1900 Broadway where there is transportation and public open <br />space and over 500 parking spaces that instead are going to be used to overburden Woodside Road with <br />incoming traffic. <br />There will be a high impact on the neighboring businesses, many of them minority owned. They are very <br />concerned about parking in their already impacted small lots.
