REV: 09-16-24 Page 1 of 1 RESOLUTION NO. ______ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF ALL-WAY STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF HARRISON AVENUE AND DUANE STREET WHEREAS, the California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Manual) has been adopted by the California Department of Transportation and by the City of Redwood City to provide uniform standards for all traffic control devices; and WHEREAS, Section 2B.07 of the Manual states that the use of multi-way stop signs should be based on an engineering study; and WHEREAS, a need to control left-turn conflicts and/or a need to control vehicle/pedestrian conflicts near locations that generate high pedestrian volumes are optional criteria that may be considered in the study; and WHEREAS, the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Duane Street is adjacent to two schools, North Star and McKinley; and WHEREAS, currently this intersection has a one-way stop sign on Duane Street; and WHEREAS, an evaluation by City engineering staff has confirmed that installation of all-way stop sign at this intersection will manage left-turn conflicts and address vehicle/pedestrian conflicts near North Star and McKinley schools that experience high pedestrian traffic and will improve traffic safety for students; and WHEREAS, as the lead agency, the City has determined that the proposed project qualifies for a categorical exemption as a minor alteration to an existing facility under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines section 15301. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: 1.Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 20.34 and 20.26 of the Redwood City Code, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause all-way stop signs to be installed and maintained at intersection of Harrison Avenue and Duane Street. * * * 16246
