ATTY/RESO.0061/CC RESO ALL-WAY STOP SIGNS - HARRISON AVE. & DUANE ST. <br />REV: 09-16-24 <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />RESOLUTION NO. ______ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF ALL-WAY STOP SIGNS <br />AT THE INTERSECTION OF HARRISON AVENUE AND DUANE <br />STREET <br />WHEREAS, the California Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (Manual) has <br />been adopted by the California Department of Transportation and by the City of Redwood <br />City to provide uniform standards for all traffic control devices; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 2B.07 of the Manual states that the use of multi-way stop <br />signs should be based on an engineering study; and <br />WHEREAS, a need to control left-turn conflicts and/or a need to control <br />vehicle/pedestrian conflicts near locations that generate high pedestrian volumes are <br />optional criteria that may be considered in the study; and <br />WHEREAS, the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Duane Street is adjacent to <br />two schools, North Star and McKinley; and <br />WHEREAS, currently this intersection has a one-way stop sign on Duane Street; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, an evaluation by City engineering staff has confirmed that installation <br />of all-way stop sign at this intersection will manage left-turn conflicts and address <br />vehicle/pedestrian conflicts near North Star and McKinley schools that experience high <br />pedestrian traffic and will improve traffic safety for students; and <br />WHEREAS, as the lead agency, the City has determined that the proposed project <br />qualifies for a categorical exemption as a minor alteration to an existing facility under <br />California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines section 15301. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1.Pursuant to the provisions of Sections 20.34 and 20.26 of the Redwood City <br />Code, the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to cause all-way stop signs to <br />be installed and maintained at intersection of Harrison Avenue and Duane Street. <br />* * * <br />16246
