From:Jean Yang
To:GRP-City Council
Subject:Submitting comment for 10/14 City Council meeting?
Date:Thursday, October 10, 2024 11:33:30 PM
You don't often get email from jeanyang@csail.mit.edu. Learn why this is important
Hello,
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the members of the City Council for
helping our city be so well-run.
I'm writing because I'd like to give a public comment during the 10/14 meeting, concerning
traffic issues in my neighborhood.
A car crashed into our lawn one month ago, the second car to crash onto a lawn at my
intersection since July 2023. Since this crash, I've spoken with many of my neighbors and we
would like to request the city's help in promoting traffic safety.
My immediate neighbors and I have begun with a request for crosswalks and narrowing at our
particular intersection, Brewster Ave/Nevada Street, a five-way intersection by a public park.
While collecting petition signatures, I met many neighbors who have been impacted by traffic
issues: cars crashing onto their lawns and more. We believe that traffic safety should be a
priority for our neighborhood in general. Speeding and reckless driving have become major
concerns, especially since we value the walkability and safety of our streets. We also would
love to see measures that preserve the quiet and charm of our neighborhoods.
Several of my neighbors and I are interested in attending the meeting to request your help. Am
I correct in understanding that I should submit a public comment card in person? Is there
anything I need to do prior to the meeting?
Thank you,
Jean
--
Jean Yang
LinkedIn | Twitter
