From:NINA GOODALE
To:publiccomment
Subject:Fwd: Thank you for writing to the City Council of the City of Redwood City
Date:Monday, November 25, 2024 5:02:28 PM
You don't often get email from nina.goodale111@gmail.com. Learn why this is important
AGENDA ITEM 7.A
Dear Members of the Redwood City Council,
As a first-generation US citizen and lifelong Bay Area resident, I am
writing to express my strong support for the proposed ordinance
restricting the use of valuable city resources to aid immigration
authorities. While I applaud Redwood City's current designation as a
Welcoming City, this additional measure would significantly
strengthen our commitment to being a truly inclusive community.
The proposed ordinance would build trust between local government
and all residents. This trust is essential for encouraging community
members to access vital city services without fear of consequences.
The policy would protect not only undocumented individuals but also
their families - including U.S. citizens and legal residents - who
depend on them as primary caregivers and breadwinners.
The impact of this ordinance would extend throughout our
community, touching the lives of our neighbors, coworkers, and
friends. By implementing these protections, Redwood City would
demonstrate its dedication to safeguarding all residents' well-being
and safety, regardless of immigration status.
I respectfully request that the council include this ordinance on the
agenda for the December 16 meeting and urge you to approve this
measure. Your support would reinforce our values as a Welcoming
City and strengthen the diverse fabric of our community.
Sincerely,
Nina Goodale
