In addition to traditional means such
as study sessions, hearings, focus groups, and community open houses, these will include a Speaker Series
modeled on the successful speaker series that have been held for previous Redwood City planning efforts,
pop-ups at community events, and door-to-door canvassing, among others. The City staff and consultant
team look forward to working closely with the City Council, BCCs, and community members to craft a Plan
that represents the collective vision of all stakeholders.
EQUITY IMPACT STATEMENT
As noted in the Analysis section above, social equity is a key pillar of the DCRC Community Engagement
Strategy. Outreach to communities that traditionally have been least likely to be heard in civic processes
is a special focus of the Strategy and all aspects of the Plan will be evaluated to identify benefits and
burdens for these communities.
FISCAL IMPACT
The project budget and scope of work for the DCRC was approved by Council on August 26, 2024. The
Community Engagement Strategy is included within the approved scope as Task 3 and has no additional
fiscal impact.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
Request changes to the Community Engagement Strategy for the Downtown & Central Redwood City
Plan and return for approval at a future meeting.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A – Draft Community Engagement Strategy for the Downtown & Central Redwood City Plan
8.A. - Page 5 of 17
68
