Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: January 27, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Agreement for Services with Davey Resource Group, Inc. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, determine that due to the nature of support services, a competitive bidding process is not <br />likely to serve the best interest of the City, and approve and authorize the City Manager to execute an <br />Agreement for Services with Davey Resource Group, Inc. to provide tree inventory services in an amount <br />not to exceed $281,050 (requires 5/7 vote). <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Public Works Services Department (“PWS”) maintains trees in City parks and the public right-of-way, <br />which, for this purpose, refers to the area between the sidewalk and curb in residential areas. To <br />effectively make decisions and manage the City’s trees, the City needs a clear understanding of the trees <br />it currently owns, which can be achieved with a tree inventory. A tree inventory typically includes the <br />documentation of the location, characteristics, and environmental surroundings of every tree, stump, and <br />vacant planting site in a particular geographic area. The last tree inventory was conducted nearly 15 years <br />ago. <br />ANALYSIS <br />At this time, the City needs a contractor to perform a tree inventory by inputting and updating attributes <br />about the City’s trees in TreeKeeper, a geographic information systems (GIS) tool that the PWS has used <br />6.E. - Page 1 of 19 <br />69
