From:Todd Freeman
To:publiccomment
Subject:1-27 Council Meeting - Solid Waste Costs
Date:Wednesday, January 8, 2025 10:08:10 AM
You don't often get email from todd@freemanwp.com. Learn why this is important
To: council@redwoodcity.org
Subject: Protest Against Proposed Solid Waste Rate Increases

Dear City Clerk,

I am writing to formally protest the proposed solid waste rate increases recently
announced by the City of Redwood City.
As a resident who uses a 20-gallon garbage can and actively strives to reduce
waste,
it is disheartening to see Redwood City publicly encourage composting and then
privately penalize those same people with a 26% rate increase.

Over the past three years, the rates for 20-gallon cans have more than doubled.

The city’s consistent rate hikes make it increasingly difficult for residents to trust
that their efforts and investments in reducing waste are valued.

I respectfully ask that my protest against this rate increase be recorded and
given full consideration by the City Council.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I look forward to Redwood City taking steps to ensure that utility rates are fair,
equitable, and supportive of sustainable practices.

Sincerely,
Todd Freeman
140 Elwood Street
Redwood City, CA 94062
