Learn why this is important
Dear City Clerk,
Re: Asessors Parcel # 058-375-230.
Service address: 1177 Foothill St., Redwood City, CA. 94061
I am writing to formally protest the proposed solid waste rate increases recently announced by
the City of Redwood City. As a resident who uses a 20-gallon garbage can and actively strives
to reduce waste, I am disheartened to learn that those of us making the greatest efforts to
conserve will face a 26% rate increase.
Over the past three years, the rates for 20-gallon cans have more than doubled, placing an
undue financial burden on residents who are already committed to sustainability and waste
reduction. This proposed increase disproportionately affects those who have taken steps to
minimize their environmental impact and rewards less conservation-focused behavior with
smaller percentage increases.
The city’s consistent rate hikes make it increasingly difficult for residents to trust that their
efforts and investments in reducing waste are valued. Instead of imposing such steep
increases, I urge the City to reconsider these rate adjustments and explore alternative
approaches to maintaining solid waste services without punishing conservation-minded
customers.
I respectfully ask that my protest against this rate increase be recorded and given full
consideration by the City Council.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to the City taking steps to ensure
that utility rates are fair, equitable, and supportive of sustainable practices.
Sincerely,
Signed:
/Gina Parodi/
/Gina Marrott/
