Swearing in of new Council Members by City Clerk and presentation of Certificates of Election to newly elected Council Members (205) City Clerk Yessika Casto administered the oath of office to newly elected Council Members Isabella Chu (District 3), Marcella Padilla (District 7), and re-elected Council Member Martínez Saballos (District 4). Elizabeth Gee administered the oath of office to re-elected Council Member Jeff Gee (District 1). Council took a 5-minute recess. Vice Mayor Espinoza-Garnica and Council Member Aguirre departed the dais. Council Members Chu and Padilla assumed their seats at the dais. There was no public comment. Council Members Chu, Gee, Padilla, and Martínez Saballos provided welcoming remarks. 7.C. Recognition of outgoing Mayor Jeff Gee (205) City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz provided remarks to outgoing Mayor Jeff Gee and presented Mayor Jeff Gee with a plaque and gavel for his years of service as mayor to Redwood City. The following member of the public provided comments: • Veronica Escamez Mayor Gee gave remarks as the outgoing Mayor. 7.D. Selection and installation of a new Mayor and Vice Mayor in accordance with City Council Policy 2019-02 - Selection of Mayor and Vice Mayor (205) City Clerk Yessika Castro gave an overview of the policy and process for selecting the new Mayor and Vice Mayor. The following member of the public provided comments: • Rona Gundrum Recommendation: By motion, install Councilmember Elmer Martínez Saballos as the new Mayor for a two - year term through December 2026 and install Councilmember Kaia Eakin as the new Vice Mayor for a two-year term through December 2026 in accordance with City Council Policy 2019-02 – Selection of Mayor and Vice Mayor.
