Swearing in of new Council Members by City Clerk and presentation of Certificates of <br />Election to newly elected Council Members (205) <br /> <br />City Clerk Yessika Casto administered the oath of office to newly elected Council <br />Members Isabella Chu (District 3), Marcella Padilla (District 7), and re-elected Council <br />Member Martínez Saballos (District 4). Elizabeth Gee administered the oath of office to <br />re-elected Council Member Jeff Gee (District 1). <br /> <br />Council took a 5-minute recess. Vice Mayor Espinoza-Garnica and Council Member Aguirre departed the <br />dais. Council Members Chu and Padilla assumed their seats at the dais. <br /> <br />There was no public comment. <br /> <br />Council Members Chu, Gee, Padilla, and Martínez Saballos provided welcoming remarks. <br /> <br /> 7.C. Recognition of outgoing Mayor Jeff Gee (205) <br /> <br />City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz provided remarks to outgoing Mayor Jeff Gee and <br />presented Mayor Jeff Gee with a plaque and gavel for his years of service as mayor to <br />Redwood City. <br /> <br />The following member of the public provided comments: <br />• Veronica Escamez <br /> <br />Mayor Gee gave remarks as the outgoing Mayor. <br /> <br /> 7.D. Selection and installation of a new Mayor and Vice Mayor in accordance with City <br />Council Policy 2019-02 - Selection of Mayor and Vice Mayor (205) <br /> <br />City Clerk Yessika Castro gave an overview of the policy and process for selecting the <br />new Mayor and Vice Mayor. <br /> <br />The following member of the public provided comments: <br />• Rona Gundrum <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />By motion, install Councilmember Elmer Martínez Saballos as the new Mayor for a two - <br />year term through December 2026 and install Councilmember Kaia Eakin as the new Vice <br />Mayor for a two-year term through December 2026 in accordance with City Council <br />Policy 2019-02 – Selection of Mayor and Vice Mayor. <br /> <br />
