<br />__________________________________________________________________________________________ <br />JOINT CITY COUNCIL/SUCCESSOR AGENCY BOARD/ January 13, 2025 <br />PUBLIC FINANCING AUTHORITY MEETING MINUTES PAGE 4 <br /> <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 69 <br /> <br />ordinance amending Redwood City Municipal Code Chapter 15 (Smoking Regulations) <br />to adopt new prohibitions on smoking in public places, expand and strengthen the <br />enforcement and penalty provisions, and conform with state law, with a friendly <br />amendment to Section 15.8 (c) to issue a warning, with no fine, upon the first violation, <br />fails 2-5 by electronic vote, with Council Members Chu, Gee, Howard, Vice Mayor Eakin <br />and Mayor Martínez Saballos opposed. <br /> <br />Motion and second, Eakin and Chu, to waive the first reading and introduce an <br />ordinance amending Redwood City Municipal Code Chapter 15 (Smoking Regulations) <br />to adopt new prohibitions on smoking in public places, expand and strengthen the <br />enforcement and penalty provisions, and conform with state law, passed 5-2 by <br />electronic vote, with Council Members Sturken and Padilla opposed. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 8.B. Utilize exception to Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act 180-day waiting period in <br />order to hire retired annuitants to perform duties of Interim Fire Chief and Extra Help <br />Public Safety Communications Dispatcher (901) Reso 16273 <br /> Reso 16274 <br />Human Resources Director Michelle Katsuyoshi gave a presentation. <br /> <br />There was no public comment. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />1. Adopt a resolution approving an exception to the Public Employees’ Pension Reform <br />Act 180-day waiting period and appointing retired annuitant Ramoth Iverson as Interim <br />Fire Chief effective February 18, 2025, or upon CalPERS approval to hire, whichever is <br />later; and <br />2. Adopt a resolution approving an exception to the Public Employees’ Pension Reform <br />Act 180-day waiting period and appointing retired annuitant Jacqueline Barberini to <br />perform critical extra help Public Safety Communications Dispatcher duties effective <br />January 14, 2025, or upon CalPERS approval to hire, whichever is later. <br /> <br />CEQA: <br />This is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) <br /> <br />Motion and second, Howard and Gee, to adopt a resolution approving an exception to <br />the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act 180-day waiting period and appointing <br />retired annuitant Ramoth Iverson as Interim Fire Chief effective February 18, 2025, or <br />upon CalPERS approval to hire, whichever is later, passed unanimously by electronic <br />vote.
