The Livescan fingerprint
reader replacement has been ordered and will
arrive and be operational within the next
several months. The Department is working
with Public Works to complete the bidding
process for the physical remodel necessary for
some of the improvements. This aspect of the
project was delayed as the Department’s
initial bid process had to be revised to follow
City purchasing rules. Completion of this
initiative is anticipated by summer 2025.
SMARTIE Goal: Conduct a language gap
analysis between the community and the
existing Fire Department workforce and
implement an action plan that will be
presented to the City Council by February
2025.
FIRE 10%
Due to the transition to a new tracking
system, the original February 2025 deadline
will not be met. Implementing the software,
collecting accurate data, and conducting
analysis will require more time, and we now
anticipate completion within 24 months.

While this is the second extension, addressing
language barriers remains a top priority to
ensure equitable emergency response.
Progress has been made in evaluating
solutions and refining our approach. Current
translation options are available, and once the
new system is in place, data collection and
analysis will guide our action plan.
8.A. - Page 49 of 70
214
