February 28th, 2025

To whom it may concern,

On behalf of the Housing Action Coalition, we’re pleased to share our support of the proposed
Redwood LIFE plan due to the project's significant investment in affordable housing in Redwood
City.

The Housing Action Coalition (HAC) is a member-funded non-profit organization whose mission
is to advocate for more housing for residents of all income levels across the state of California.
To that end, HAC does everything we can to help increase the amount of funding available for
affordable housing. While it is not in HAC’s mission to support non-housing projects, the number
of new homes that will be generated from the Redwood LIFE plan presents a significant
opportunity to bolster Redwood City’s affordable housing supply.

The biggest issue cities face when it comes to producing subsidized affordable housing is the
lack of financial resources. Longfellow’s multi-million dollar commitment, well beyond the
required amount for affordable housing in Redwood City, will make a considerable impact on the
community and surrounding area. Based on our experience and conversations with affordable
builders, we believe that funding could result in hundreds of new subsidized affordable homes at
no cost to taxpayers.

We look forward to working with Longfellow and other HAC members to ensure that the funding
becomes available and leveraged as soon as possible so these homes can get built. For that
reason, we respectfully request the City Council direct staff to allow the project to move forward
and begin its CEQA review.

Respectfully submitted,

Corey Smith, Executive Director
Housing Action Coalition (HAC)
