Chamber Letter to Council and Planning Commission RE: Agenda Item #5A, pg. 2
Any further delay in allowing this project to immediately proceed to the EIR phase will put the
project and the City’s economic reputation at risk. After five years, with no approvals to begin the
EIR, the City is memorializing inaction as its approach to development which will harm Redwood
City but benefit surrounding communities that will embrace and support projects such as Redwood
Life. From all that we are able to deduce, there are no procedural reasons for additional hearings or
votes before proceeding with the EIR process. In fact, most projects submit an application and start
an EIR without any hearings. Adding more process before commencing the EIR will only be
succumbing to the delay tactics by a vocal minority who wish to frustrate the process and cause the
city to lose millions of dollars in needed revenue.
With this, we encourage the Council and Planning Commission to select Alternative 2, as it carries
the support of the developer and previously opposed neighbors.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Amy N.
