March 3, 2025

City of Redwood City City Council and Planning Commission
1017 Middlefield Road
Redwood City, CA 94063

RE: Redwood LIFE Evolve Comment Letter - Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo
County

Dear Members of the Redwood City City Council and Planning Commission,

The Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County (HLC) works with communities and their
leaders to produce and preserve quality affordable homes.

On behalf of HLC, I would like to extend our appreciation to Longfellow Real Estate Partners for
their willingness to work with Eden Housing to ensure that your low-income Bayshore
community members living near the Redwood LIFE Evolve proposal will continue to be housed.
We would also like to commend their approximately $80 million investment to create affordable
homes in the City of Redwood City. This partnership between a commercial-only and a
non-profit affordable housing developer is a great example of how our cities can produce and
preserve homes at the deepest levels of affordability. It is a proactive plan that is designed to
protect your most vulnerable residents and safeguards them against displacement and/or
homelessness.

Thank you for your continued leadership, and we urge you to support a proposal that does not
displace your low-income community members while also allowing for the greatest feasible
number of homes to be created in your city.

Sincerely,

Ken Chan
Senior Organizer
Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County

Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County
2905 S.
