Learn why this is important
Dear Honorable Mayor, Members of the City Council and Planning Commission:
My name is Vidyut Lingamneni.
I’ve lived in Redwood Shores for over 20 years. I am not in support of the two alternative proposals, which are way
over the size wanted by me and most of our residents who have attended the workshops and meetings held over the
past couple of years.
Longfellow's investment in this campus may appear to represent an incredible opportunity for Redwood City. However,
Longfellow has not listened to many of our community concerns and has responded by creating these alternatives that
are not significant reductions in the scope of the project. I feel that our views do not matter and the community feels
ignored.
I would like the City Council to listen to the concerns of the residents. My main concern is the effects of climate change,
with a resultant sea level rise and the concurrent sinking of the Foster City/Redwood Shores area described in a recent
study.
The study found four places in the Bay Area that are sinking the fastest: San Rafael, Corte Madera and Foster City,
along with Bay Farm Island in Alameda, which is located next to Oakland International Airport. The land in those areas
is subsiding at a rate of more than 0.4 of an inch per
https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/4-bay-area-locations-sinking-at-alarming-rate-study-
says/3796551/#:~:text=The%20study%20found%20four%20places,next%20to%20Oakland%20International%20Airport.
I will support a version that brings the most prosperity in the forms of investments in affordable housing, early
childhood education, and job opportunities. There currently exists a jobs-housing imbalance in Redwood City and
surrounding cities. It will only worsen with what has been proposed for the RedwoodLIFE campus.
Thank you for your consideration.
Vidyut Lingamneni
255 Nice Ct
Redwood City, CA 94065
