Page 3 of 5 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />The tentative agreement provides that Police Sergeants and Police Lieutenants who complete ten <br />years of service as a sworn peace officer, with at least two years with the City, may qualify to be <br />placed into the Advanced salary range. <br />In addition, the tentative agreement increases the single level to two levels, effective the first pay <br />period following City Council approval of the successor MOU. The new level of the Advanced <br />classifications requires completing fifteen years of service as a sworn peace officer, with at least <br />two years with the City of Redwood City, in order to be placed into the newly established second <br />level Police Sergeant and Police Lieutenant - Advanced classifications. The new Police Sergeant- <br />Advanced (15 YR) salary range shall be set at 5% above the Police Sergeant salary range, and the <br />new Police Lieutenant-Advanced (15 YR) salary range shall be set at 5% above the Police <br />Lieutenant salary range. Employees must also maintain a current performance evaluation of <br />meets or exceeds standards; possess a POST Advanced certification, and have completed 60 <br />college credits or possess an Associates or higher degree in order to qualify for the new 15-year <br />Sergeant Advanced and Lieutenant Advanced classifications. <br />EDUCATION INCENTIVE PAY <br />Currently, employees who possess the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training <br />(P.O.S.T.) Intermediate or Advanced Certificates or a Bachelor’s degree receive educational incentive pay <br />as follows: <br />2.5% salary for the P.O.S.T. Intermediate Certificate <br />3.5% salary for the P.O.S.T. Advanced Certificate <br />1.5% salary for a Bachelor’s degree <br />P.O.S.T. certificate and degree pay combined cannot exceed 7.5% <br />Effective the first full pay period following City Council approval of a successor MOU, P.O.S.T. Advanced <br />Certificate pay will increase from 3.5% salary to 5% salary. The cap on P.O.S.T. certificate and degree pay <br />combined will increase to 9%. <br />BILINGUAL PREMIUM <br />Effective August 26, 2024, any changes to bilingual pay with the Police Officers’ Association will apply <br />to the Police Supervisors’ Association. <br />The Tentative Agreement eliminates eligibility for Bilingual Pay for proficiency or fluency in the <br />languages of Vietnamese and Russian. There is a very small population in Redwood City who speak <br />those languages, and no City employees currently receive Bilingual Pay for speaking Vietnamese or <br />Russian in the course of their job duties. <br />CALL BACK/CALL OUT PAY <br />Effective the first full pay period following City Council approval of a successor MOU, employees who <br />respond to an operations-related call while off-duty shall be credited with a minimum of 30 minutes of <br />pay at the overtime rate. Multiple calls within the same 30-minute period that do not exceed a cumulative <br />total of 30 minutes will be credited at a total of 30 minutes of pay. <br />LIEUTENANT TAKE HOME VEHICLES <br />The parties agreed to add to the Memorandum of Understanding the City’s current past practice, dating <br />back to approximately 2011, of providing Lieutenants in active pay status with a take-home vehicle so <br />6.H. - Page 3 of 72 <br />345
