Effective August 26, 2024, any changes to bilingual pay negotiated with the <br />Redwood City Police Officers Association will apply to the Police Supervisors’ <br />Association Tier Two bilingual pay. <br /> <br />7.11 Temporary Upgrade Pay <br /> <br />A Police Sergeant temporarily assigned to Police Lieutenant or a Police Lieutenant <br />temporarily assigned to Police Captain for forty (40) hours or more shall receive acting <br />assignment pay of five percent (5%) of regular (adjusted) pay for hours worked in that <br />assignment. After thirty (30) consecutive calendar days of temporary assignment, the <br />employee’s paid time off shall be compensated at a pay rate that includes the five percent <br />(5%). <br /> <br />7.11.1 Temporary Duty Assignments <br /> <br />The parties agree that temporary duty assignments are not intended to circumvent <br />the normal promotion or appointment process. For the purpose of Government <br />Code section 20480, an out-of-class appointment shall not exceed a total of nine <br />hundred sixty (960) hours in a fiscal year. <br /> <br />Once the temporary duty assignment has ended, the employee shall return to their <br />assignment from which they were temporarily assigned, unless the position no <br />longer exists. If an employee currently serving in a Specialty position with a <br />specified duration, (i.e. three (3) years), is temporarily assigned to a different <br />classification or assignment, the employee’s time spent in that Specialty position <br />shall toll until they return from the temporary assignment. <br /> <br />7.12 Educational and Specialized Training Expense Reimbursement <br /> <br />All employees shall be eligible for reimbursement of costs, as provided in this section, for <br />tuition, registration, fees and books incurred in connection with enrollment in and <br />successful completion of courses of instruction related to the member’s position with the <br />City or a higher position with the City, professional development workshops or seminars, <br />post-secondary courses offered at an accredited college or university, or P.O.S.T. approved <br />courses. <br /> <br />Each employee shall be eligible to receive reimbursement, not to exceed six hundred fifty <br />dollars ($650.00) each fiscal year, provided that the course of instruction, workshop or <br />seminar is approved in advance of enrollment by the Police Chief and the Personnel <br />Officer, and the employee must successfully complete each course submitted for <br />reimbursement with a grade of “C” or better, or a passing grade in a pass/fail course, or <br />with receipt of a certificate of completion or letter certifying the awarding of C.E.U. units. <br />Effective July 1, 2022, the maximum tuition reimbursement per employee will be one <br />thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) per fiscal year, provided that the course of <br />instruction, workshop or seminar is approved in advance of enrollment by the Police Chief <br />and the Personnel Officer, and the employee must successfully complete each course <br />submitted for reimbursement with a grade of “C” or better, or a passing grade in a pass/fail <br />course, or with receipt of a certificate of completion or letter certifying the awarding of <br />C.E.U. units. <br /> <br />6.H. - Page 24 of 72 <br />366
