<br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N N o. 1378 <br /> <br />ENDORSING $2,300,000.00 BOND ISSUE <br />TO EXPAND AND MODERNIZE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the legal and traditional responsibility <br /> <br /> <br />of counties in California to provide medical care for the <br /> <br />needy, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the tax-supported Community Hospital has not <br /> <br /> <br />been added to in the last 20 years, and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Community Hospital is the only general hospital <br /> <br /> <br />in the county which provides hospital facilities for cases <br /> <br /> <br />of contagious disease and mentally disturbed patients, and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the ratio of county hospital beds to population <br /> <br />has dropped to a dangerously low point because of the rapid <br /> <br />population increase in San Mateo County, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, private and district hospital construction <br /> <br />recently authorized will not be utilized to assume the func- <br />tions of the Community Hospital, and <br />WHEREAS, San Mateo County faces a critical situation in <br /> <br />case of epidemic or disaster because of inadequate county <br />I <br /> <br />hospital beds, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County Board of Supervisors has placed on <br /> <br /> <br />the November 4th ballot a bond issue for $2,300,000.00 to <br /> <br /> <br />expand and modernize Community Hospital, <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of Redwood <br /> <br />City that this organization goes on record as favoring and <br />endorsing these bonds, and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the individual members of <br /> <br />this organizat~on urge all citizens to vote YES on Proposition <br />A at the November 4th election. <br /> <br />.:l' <br />"'1\ <br /> <br />" <br />-;, <br /> <br />it <br /> <br />" <br />"i. <br />
