3. Selective Response to Community Feedback
The City Council required a Community Alternative, but feedback from the February 12th workshop appears to
have been ignored. The developer erroneously claimed 70 percent community approval based on a small private
survey of a narrowly selected subgroup. A public survey conducted by the independent consultant is needed, as most
residents have not had a chance to review or comment on Alternative 2 put forward by the developer.
4. 25-Year Buildout Timeline
The proposed 25-year construction timeline is excessive, creating decades of disruption for neighboring residents.
This long-term commitment also ties the hands of future councils, making it unwise to approve such a plan for a
vulnerable site.
Action Requested
* Delay the vote to allow the community process to finish
* Strengthen Alternative 2 to more effectively address environmental and safety concerns
* Require a comprehensive analysis of landfill and sea level rise impacts, even if not mandated by CEQA
* Follow up on the request from Council Member Gee for a smaller alternative that better addresses community
concerns
Rushing this alternative selection without finalizing the community process does not serve our best interests. Major
developments impacting our shoreline require thorough scrutiny. Please prioritize the long-term health and safety of
our community over hasty decisions.
Sincerely,
Judith Kirk
This message was sent by KnowWho, as a service provider, on behalf of an individual associated with Sierra Club.
If you need more information, please contact Member Care at Sierra Club at member.care@sierraclub.org or (415)
977-5673.
