From:Ron Susek
To:publiccomment
Subject:Subject: Public Comment re. May 12 agenda item 6B (“Agreement for Services with Axon Enterprise, Inc. to
upgrade current Taser X2 devices…”
Date:Sunday, May 11, 2025 5:11:09 PM
You don't often get email from rsusek@gmail.com. Learn why this is important
Honorable Redwood City Council members,
I am concerned about the proposal to spend more city resources on Tasers. I question the
characterization of these lethal weapons as “required goods” and oppose approving this
agenda item, or any purchase of additional or upgraded Tasers, without a thorough and
transparent evaluation of their use in our community.
My concern stems from consuming multiple reports on the overuse and abuse of Tasers and
the manufacturer’s questionable advertising and training materials that minimized the lethal
potential of these dangerous weapons. I fully support more training for the Tasers already in
use; however, even better would be to conduct an open evaluation of Taser use and training
and have a frank discussion about less lethal alternatives.
Thanks for your service and consideration on this important matter,
--
Ron Susek
Redwood City, CA 94062
