<br />6.2A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Counci.1 <br />From the Ci Mana er <br /> <br />December 7, 2009 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Final Acceptance - 2008-2009 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Accept, by motion, the 2008-2009 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, and authorize the <br />release of bonds and the retention according to city procedures. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />On July 13, 2009, Council awarded the construction contract for the 2008-2009 Asphalt <br />Rubber Chip Seal Project to International Surfacing Systems of Modesto. The project <br />was awarded for a base bid of $752,940.44. Construction began in August, 2009. The <br />project is successfully completed in accordance with the plans and specifications. One <br />(1) change order totaling $8,833.00 was issued. The final contract amount is <br />$761,773.44, and 1.1% more than the contract amount initially awarded. Change <br />orders resulted from quantity adjustments. <br /> <br />This project resurfaced roadway segments roughly bordered by Fifth Avenue to the <br />north, Rolison Road to the east, Marsh Road to the south, and Bay Road to the west. <br />Portions of Vera Avenue and the roadway segments between Veterans Boulevard and <br />U.S. 101 were also resurfaced. <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of bonds and <br />retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior Council action, and <br />public contracting code. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />This project is partially funded by a California Integrated Waste Management Board <br />grant (CIWMB) totaling $175,612.00. The major portion of funding for the general work <br />of this project has been previously appropriated in the Transportation Fund (Measure <br />UA"), Street Pavement Management Program which has an available balance of <br />$924,649.86 as of October 31, 2009. <br /> <br /> <br />M.
