From:Gita Dev
To:publiccomment
Subject:Council agenda item 8A: Support of PCA designations
Date:Monday, June 9, 2025 2:22:19 PM
You don't often get email from gd@devarchitects.com. Learn why this is important
Please could this be read out at the Council meeting tonight. Thank you!
Subject: Support for Priority Conservation Area Designation in Redwood City
Dear Mayor and Members of the Redwood City City Council,
My name is Gita Dev, and I am writing on behalf of the Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter and
the Sierra Club Bay Alive Campaign.
We support the proposal to nominate the identified areas for designation as Priority
Conservation Areas (PCAs) under the recently revised ABAG PCA program.
Given the significant vulnerability of Redwood City’s shoreline to sea level rise, we believe
that designating Redwood Shores and the Bair Island/Westpoint Slough areas as PCAs will
provide critical support for climate adaptation efforts and increase eligibility for related
funding opportunities.
Additionally, we support the inclusion of Greater Downtown and Southeast Redwood City in
this nomination. These areas would greatly benefit from climate resilience measures such as
urban greening, expanded access to open space, and recreational amenities. These actions are
essential for promoting long-term sustainability and advancing equity in our community.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Gita Dev
Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter
& Bay Alive Campaign
-- Gita DevSustainable Land Use CommitteeSierra Club Loma Prieta415.722.3355
