<br /> <br />ITEM 9.A. – Budget Study Session <br /> <br />Good Evening, <br /> <br />On behalf of Seaport Industrial Association (SIA), I want to thank you and city staff for your hard work to develop <br />the proposed budget. <br />I also want to highlight the important role that the modernized business license tax plays in balancing this budget <br />and supporting multiple full time city positions in Fire, Finance, and Parks & Community Services. <br /> <br />The new tax was successful in large part because the city engaged the business community, including industrial <br />companies in the port area and Chamber San Mateo County. You listened to that feedback and came back with a <br />better ordinance that was approved by the community. <br /> <br />That process led to trust and support and a balanced budget. <br /> <br />To build on that process we encourage you to keep in mind the city’s commitment to collect data on the <br />performance of the tax and periodically (and publicly) review the rate structure based on its performance. <br /> <br />Thank you, <br />Greg Greenway
